Receiving a beautiful testimonial from my client, Marie Yates, did me the world of good this week (please go check her out here – she’s amazing!).
It made me sit back and appreciate all the beautiful women (& men) I have had the honour of working with over the past 2 years. Each and every single one of them is making this world a better place.
I am not going to lie, these last 6 months (hell, 2 years) have been stressful and at the same time exhilarating. I have cried buckets of tears, been frustrated and have felt immense freedom, extreme joy and belly-laughed so many times. I’ve had countless sleepless nights staring at my ceiling analysing and overthinking EVERYTHING as I am sure you have too.
It also made me reminisce on the time I was in the US in May and attended Jenny Shih‘s Make It Work Online conference in Corvallis, Oregon following on from the course we had just completed (which is a kickass course for online entrepreneurs. I highly recommend). I distinctly remember hearing all the other women’s stories on that first day. Especially the reasons why they are in business (to this day it still gives me goosebumps) and I thought ‘We are all in this together’.
We are all in this together.
Let that sink in…
This year, ‘connection’ has been big for me. I truly wanted to connect with the people entering my world and I really craved it too. I entered collaborations, ran some training sessions, was introduced to the most wonderful people and saw beautiful things come to fruition.
We are here to lend each other a helping hand, lift each other up, create communities, help each other cross hurdles. When we do this with respect for each other’s time and expertise, the world goes around that little bit kinder.
We are all here to shine. Shine in whatever we excel at and our gifts are precious and worthy of sharing.
All of us, that includes you!
I have said this many times over to those close to me. Reach out to those around you. If you feel isolated, try and build your network (yes, you can even do that online if in person doesn’t work). Connect with other business owners, get to know each other.
Loneliness among entrepreneurs is huge. We all work from home more, most of our businesses are online. Real & true connection has been reduced to minimum interactions.
As human beings, we are not meant to be on our own, we are not meant to walk our paths in solitude.
We are glued to screens, hardly look up, spend more times swiping up, down, left & right and less time simply smiling at people passing by or having a great conversation just because.
True connection nourishes our soul! It releases happiness hormones and lowers stress levels.
I’ve decided to step up and out and invite you to step into my world and hopefully, I get to step into yours as well.
So, let’s connect. Why not have an online coffee chat with me? I’ve love to get to know you and your business, most of all, I want to know your ‘Why’!! Why do you do what you do? Who are you outside of business? What is the one thing you love doing?
If you’re up for an online catch-up, simply email me on joyce@joycedebakker.com and we’ll get together.
I can’t wait! 🙂
Much love,
Joyce xo
